BREAKING NEWS !! ..........
The Northern BS is delighted to announce that it has recently been granted an award from Awards for All, in the sum of £7,038. This money will be ring-fenced for the purchase of two laptop computers plus a major expenditure upon new, lighter show staging which will house in the region of 800 birds.
This is great news for the society, which has long sought to instigate a blanket coverage of publicity materials amongst public libraries, etc in the region in order to remind the public at large of the existence of a budgerigar fancy and the excellent, character-forming possibilities that such hobbies offer to children and young people – especially to such folk who are not mentally or physically equipped to meet the challenges of sporting activities (for which so much provision is currently available)
We look forward to hearing the plans of our general committee in proceeding to make this dream finally a reality !
Meanwhile, my personal thanks to the committee who have brought this about -- but particularly to Roy Cooke who has done most of the clerical work attached, plus Dennis Cairns who has been so instrumental in that revision of the society rules which made it possible to bring this award to fruition.
